I was woken up yesterday morning by a weird sound. it sounded very much like a cat having a hell of a time dislodging something from its throat. at first i didn't really realize but after a few minutes of it, i had to get up to make sure that seti was ok.

turns out it was just some dudes at the construction site on the next street that managed to get that "oh god cat's gonna barf" rhythm just right. seti was ok and our floors were not covered in kitty vomit.

so I pretty much LOVE team fortress 2. I am still pretty bad at it or at least I have this horrible tendency to a) run straight into pyros, b) somehow lose all ability to aim when I have to melee somebody. I made gyoza last night and it did not kill anyone. I need to practice doing the whole steaming bit because that is the only part I have not been able to really get down even after all these years. For a while I was just like SCREW THIS, DEEP FRIED and that works too but it's not quite the same.

So far I have prepared 5 things and all 5 things seem to have gone over pretty well!

ben's parents bought us a Tassimo drink thing and we're enjoying it quite a bit. Chai tea latte for about a buck as opposed to the $2-4 (depending on size and if I want a snack also) I would otherwise spend at Dunkin is pretty awesome. Ben's been loving the cappacino and hot chocolate, and the folks seem to enjoy the espresso things. I'll just stick to tea.

calogero's new album is kind of neat. I don't like it as much as Pomme C so far, but I really dig the first song "Fin dela Fin du Monde" for some reason.

orite, cause wotlk is actually an awesome expansion. we finally got to really playing fairly recently and I haven't been doing much but levelling one character or another. my warlock is 80 and needs her professions levelled and her rep worked on but then I want to level my death knight because it is pretty fun, but then I want to level a druid because I have always wanted a resto druid and I would also love to have something ridonculous to pvp with.

so this last month has been ok. I was put on furlough because apparently that is what all the seasonal hires get to do, despite being put into a full-time position. but it gave me two weeks off so I suppose it was alright, as much as two weeks without a paycheck seriously sucks. I went back to Texas that first week and it was awesome. it was pretty uneventful - for the most part it was just mom and I going to eat at La Playa almost every day. Also it was so nice and sunny and everything. I haven't been feeling that awesome this last week and I am certain it is largely because it is all grey and white outside. No wonder everyone up here is angry!

I can't wait to go home again, hopefully with Ben. mom couldn't go 10 minutes without asking about him.

2008 was a pretty good year for me, I think. it has been my most productive year at the very least. I went to Europe for the very first time, got and kept a job mostly on my own, made some new friends (though I am still horrible at the whole socializing thing), got mildly drunk for the first time and discovered that I share my mom's low tolerance of alcohol...

The job is [mostly] great and all, not the most prestigious, but it feels great to a) help Ben, and b) have something else to complain about. Work drama is awesome and there is plenty of it in my department.

I've been up here for more than a year now and in a few months it will be two years since Ben and I decided to give this thing a try. I've never had a relationship last more than six or eight months before. The awesome thing is, this has come so easily. We've fought a few times and it's always been my fault but it hasn't nearly been as difficult as I was led to believe. Just as natural as breathing and I have never been this happy in my life.

so 2008 was great and I imagine 2009 will be even better.

resolution: remember that fried food is not all there is to life. BE HEALTHIER, DEB, FOR REAL.

christmas was full of meatballs and awesome. it turns out I am as afraid of Dead Space as I thought I would be.

wow is... enjoyable again, kind of. we haven't even hit 71 yet (at least not together, ben has been levelling his mage and Ihave been given permission to level my dk when he isn't around) but we're not rushing through quests and junk just to jump into the raiding game. it's a lot more fun this way.

going to a karaoke thing and a bar or two tonight as an early birthday thing. hopefully I won't get tricked into drinking much cause I will just fall asleep right away.

so last night we started talking about wow and the things we liked and/or missed and now we both have a copy of lich king and a pair of game cards. rahhhh.

I don't expect either of us will drop WAR - the rvr is way too nifty. I don't expect either of us will start raiding again, unless it's something small-scale like we had with the Misfits as neither of us have the time nor the patience for much bigger. My ultimate goal once more is to see Naxxramas cleared, as much as it pains me as it won't be Old School Naxx anymore. qqqq.

Of course we had to try Death Knight. I am digging the little campaign thing so far. I've always wished that the Scourge would be a playable faction and though this isn't quite that, it's still pretty awesome. Felt like going through Old Hillsbrad again with all the big names in lore popping out here and there. What little I've played of the class seems interesting, too.

one thing I do want to get out of wow: RP. there really isn't much of it on warhammer (at least not on destruction side, that isn't suffering from tarquinitis)... and Northrend was meant to really figure in big with poor ol' D's story. a few ideas are flopping around but I haven't been able to really write much of anything for a while now. but it was basically the rp that kept me interested in wow for so long. pvp was the last resort I suppose and that didn't last for long at all.
